Still Beautiful.

My sweet babysitter (well, she's more of a friend) came over yesterday so I could have some alone time. It's been going ok without Ryan at home, but this mama needed a break.

So I went to Target.

It started out pleasant. I ran into an old friend, grabbed some Starbucks, then started browsing the clearance racks, which I never get to do when I have the children.

As I was browsing, a woman said to me, "I'm trying to find something fashionable to wear while pregnant and it looks like you are too."

Uh, no.

And awkward.

I came home and read this post. I miss my husband.

Bits and Pieces {and a winner}

Congratulations Steph! You won the $10 gift certificate to Bloomz.

I also have great news for those who didn't win. Leslie, the shop owner of Bloomz, has graciously offered a buy two get one free to anyone who comes from Little Green Pastures. Type the code LittleGreen in the message to the seller and you will be refunded for the lowest priced item. [This offer is good thru the end of May]. Thanks Leslie!

We're leaving for the airport in just a few minutes. Ryan is hopping on a plane to Atlanta for a children's pastor's conference. He'll be gone until Friday. I hate being without him.

The other day, Sylas called his bum crack his "pocket." And almost daily he checks it for peanut butter. Not sure what that's about.

I need a haircut. So badly.

A Rebelling One Year Old and an Etsy Giveaway

It's happened. I knew this moment would come, but I was hoping I would have had a few more months. It's tragic, really.

Ivy is rebelling.

She no longer appreciates the constant hair accessories I try to force on her sweet head. All her headbands have been terribly neglected in the last few weeks. Sigh...

I've been trying clips with moderate success, but I have to be tricky. I take 2 clips and put both of them in Ivy's hair practically stacked on top of each other. She then proceeds to pull the top one out and be none the wiser about the second one. It works. Usually. And when it does, I get photos like this.

LOOK at all that beautiful hair. Ivy is wearing the sweet swirls clip from Bloomz on etsy. I adore felt and Leslie makes some wonderfully creative accessories with it. I need to get my hands on this one next.

Isn't it edible?

Leslie, the owner of Bloomz has offered to give one of you a $10 gift certificate to her sweet little shop. To enter, head on over to Bloomz and let me know in the comments what you would choose if you won. [Side note...if you do win, you're allowed to change your mind].

I'll choose one winner at random sometime on Tuesday, April 27.

*Giveaway is open to everyone, even my wonderful friends overseas.

Boys Will Be Boys

What's so funny?

This. Apparently.

And ohmygoodness, I can't believe I posted a video of my son's flatulent behavior on the internet.

Re {FRESH} ing

Yesterday was bad. Really bad. But today is new. Fresh. With a fresh perspective.

And fresh bedhead.

And fresh delight in my darling miracle boy reading to my beautiful rainbow baby.

Wondering. Never Knowing.

I'm having a hard time keeping the sads at bay. Some days it hits me. Like a heavy cloak that I can't stand under and I fall to my knees, trembling from the pain of it all.

Last night, Ryan and I talked at length about our Lucia, Bennet, Tryg, Lincoln and Cadence. They would be almost 3.

Sylas wants purple cupcakes for his birthday. I wonder what colors his siblings would have picked.

Who's That?

How Can This Be Brief?

I'm filling out a form to begin Sy's first for school IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Can you believe he's almost 3? And 3 means that in September he might start school.

Wasn't it just last week he looked like this?

The first question on the form is...

Can you give a brief description of your pregnancy?

This could get interesting.

Sunshine-y Day

It's one of those perfect mornings. The children slept in just a little. It was enough for me to take a shower in peace.

Right now, I'm drinking my iced espresso. The diapers are drying in the sun.

The children are playing quietly. Together.

The only sadness is that Ryan is working. But tonight...tonight we are going on a date.

We're going bowling. I'm an awesome bowler on the Wii, but in real life, I'm terrible.

What are you up to this lovely Saturday?

Some Chipotle Love

Oh, wow. You all are good guessers. Or...

You eat way too much Chipotle. Either way, I was impressed.

Last week we had an impromptu trip to a town about 45 minutes from us. And yes, they have a Chipotle.

So much happened while we were there.

Sy refused to have his photo taken.

Ivy showed us her angry face. {No more limes for her}.

Sylas acquiesced to a photo with Daddy. {Thank goodness Ryan is now sans Easter musical beard}.

Ivy stole Sy's walker. Again.

Sylas refused to walk on the beaten path, which makes me so proud.

And Ivy, our little prairie girl just ran. And ran and ran.

Thank you Chipotle, for such an eventful trip. Our love for you is great.

[P.S This post was not in any way endorsed by Chipotle. We just love them that much.]

We did Easter basket [bags] this year. It was a first. And it was fun.

Ryan even put one together for me, and it included this delightful mug that is perfect for my morning espresso over ice.

Over the weekend, Sy and I had an impromptu gathering with some Minnesota friends who were in the area. We promised the children that they could say hi to the Easter Bunny, but when we got there, he was on break. I may or may not have chased him down shouting, "Hey Bunny! Can we just say hello? Really fast? Thanks."

Sy loved him. Gave him a high five and a knuckle bump. And also really wanted to be held by him, but since Mr. Bunny was on break, that may have been pushing it.

Even that night, during one of Sy's [many] night wakings, he asked to be held by the Easter bunny.

His excitement has been delightful to watch, and I want him to enjoy all those fun eastery things. But the most beautiful part of the day, was hearing him sing, My Savior, My Savior Lives.

Oh, it's so true.

The grave is empty and that empty tomb is the reason we can walk as a family of four and not nine and still be filled with joy and peace. And hope. So much hope.

Jesus will make all things new.

The month of April.

Almost 60 degree weather at nine o'clock in the morning.

And lots of sunshine.

Make us very, very HAPPY.
