Our Baby Needs Us

We're not in Kohler.

We're home.

We got a call right after dinner. Sy had a seizure and was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. It was a febrile seizure and the only one he's had since his first seizure over a year ago.

He's okay. Exhausted, but ok, and we're so grateful. It seems to just be a virus, so he was discharged from the hospital after a couple of hours. Right now, he's snuggled safely in our bed. Exactly where he should be.

And I'm going to join him.

Kohler will have to wait for another day.

  18. My niece had a febrile seizure when she was 8 months old. It was the scariest experience we all ever went through. My sister said that Evelyn's temperature went from just above normal to 104 in just a matter of minutes, and she started seizing. They didn't even wait for an ambulance but jumped in the car and drove her to the ER. Luckily, the baby was okay - but she was in the hospital a week because they thought she might have meningitis. After a spinal tap, and many tests, they found she had had a bladder infection which spread to the kidneys, and it could have created a toxic shock. She was lucky - and I am SO glad that Sy is just as lucky! It is SO scary but know that many children experience this. I hope he starts to feel better soon!
