Ambitious

I'm going to run a half marathon.

There. I said it. Now all of you have to keep me accountable and those of you who know me well, please pick your jaws up off the floor and have a little faith. I can do this, even though I despise running. I do have a few reasons for my madness.

The main reason is because my sister loves to run. Really, I would rather walk, but Courtney, crazy girl, loves to run. The two of us are only a year and a half apart, but we are in such different stages of life. I'm hoping that by running this half marathon together, we'll be able to connect and relate to one another on a deeper level.

The race is also benefiting some really good causes, such as one of the Children's Hospitals in Wisconsin (not the one we go to, but I will always be an advocate for Children's Hospitals no matter where they are) and also Breast Cancer research.

Lastly, let's face it. I.AM.OUT.OF.SHAPE. Oooh Mama! I tried running a mile a couple of weeks ago, and let's just say I had to use my mother's inhaler. This is not good people.

But if my dad can do it, I can do it.

My dad is running his first half mary next month. He'll be 50 years old this summer and is still so motivated and in shape. I'm so proud of him. The best part about the event he is participating in, is that they are raising money for Cerebral Palsy research and treatments! You all know that this is something very close to my heart.

If you would like to contribute to this very worthy cause, click here. I know Sylas Bug and his Papa would be so grateful.

  1. You go girl! You are quite inspiring. The half mary and this amazing blogspot! Thanks for sharing and I have been so enjoying reading and lift you and your family up to the Lord.

Must be a "running bug" going around. I have a couple friends training for a half or a whole, one doing a triathalon and I just bought running shoes myself tonight because I want to get back into it too. Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. You can do it, Brianna! I've walked a half marathon once...and I'd eventually like to run one just to say I did it. You are certainly inspiring me!

And what a great way to reconnect with your sister. Gives me an idea about mine....

    Good luck! :)

  5. I know so many who have picked up running this year....One of these days, I will be inspired to do the same! Like you, I would rather take a walk than a jog anyday. I could barely run the mile in HS gym class, but I could walk 10 miles no problem any day. Good luck, Brianna! I look forward to reading about your progress and training!

  6. Way to go, Bri! I'll be your biggest cheerleader the whole way, I promise! (Hopefully, by the end, you won't consider me your worst nightmare because I'm going to push you and won't let you quit! ;) ) I'm so proud of you, big sis! Love you

  7. Good luck Brianna, I am not a runner either. I gave that up after having to run away from my brothers growing up ;)

  9. You can do it Bri! My friends have a roommate who is training for a half marathon. I think he just runs either 2 or 3 miles depending on the day and does some strength training with it. I know what you mean about not liking running though. I just walk most of the time and run in short bursts. That always gets Layla saying "wee wee" in the stroller. Its a good motivator.

  10. Dear Brianna,
I have been praying for your family since I first read about you when your babies were born. Now I was wondering if you could pray for my grandson. Baby Jack is a day and a half old. He is very, very sick and not expected to live. We have started a facebook group "Praying for baby Jack." If you could pray, we'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
