18 Months...A Letter to my Daughter Lucia

My darling Lucia Rae, 18 months have gone by, but still I miss you every day. How can I not miss you? You are my first born, the daughter of my dreams. I miss so many things we could be doing now, like cuddling and playing with dollies. I also mourn for the things we would be doing in the days to come.Things like shopping, talking about boys, watching you fall in love and someday helping you pick out your wedding dress. Still, amidst my grief, I celebrate the things I was able to do with you during your beautiful 42 days on this earth. I will always remember giving you your first bath, reading you your first book and holding your sweet little body for the first time. I miss you, little LuLuBug, and I long for the day when we are together again.

Baby Lu*
by Daddy

Sunbeam, shining down while you daydream
Don't you know that the sun dreams
To shine warm and beautiful as you

Jealous Moon, reflection so true
Wishes she could reflect God
As beautifully as you

Beautiful Baby Lu

Diamond sky, watching over the world at night
Can't take my breath away
Like the diamonds in your eyes

You light up my life
You make my day bright
You are my beautiful light

Beautiful Baby Lu

*Lucia is an Italian name (pronounced Lu-sha) meaning light, and Ryan wrote this song a few weeks before our lovely Lucia passed away.
